Sorry Folks....

I have no goings on to update you about, nor to I have pictures to bestow upon you....but I do have some amusing thoughts...

What do you think of when you hear the word Italy?

When people think about Italy, there usually is some thought of random people on the street playing accordions thrown in there somewhere.....I mean its not the first thing, but if you tried to capture the atmosphere of a stereotypical Italian city, I bet you would think of an accordion....well, I'm abandoning that line of thinking because apparently I can't get through to you ;)

moving on...

An accordion seems like a harmless instrument, maybe even slightly enjoyable when you are taking a walk down a random italian street....but here's where the excitement of living in a new country wears off....

imagine if you will....

8am saturday morning....
sounds of a city waking up, birds chirping, people chatting, the occasional car going by.....and us TRYING to sleep....
enter: an accordion player....
who decided to walk UP AND DOWN our alleyway for an unspecified (nor remembered) amount of time, playing all the songs he could think of....
us=not happy

and thus starts the cultural adjustment cycle :)

Wow, I was seriously devoid of all interest last post......

So sorry about that.....

but I can update you on a couple things that have been amusing lately....

Thing one......the first night that one of my team members was in Italy, who from now on we will call him "Bob" for all constructive purposes of this story, he had to sleep outside......the door of the apartment locked as well as the porch door and he had no way of getting into the apartment ALL NIGHT......it gets cold at night! Many objects on the porch were used for not their intended purpose, but all definitely to the bemusement of all of us after the fact.......so go bob for braving the elements and having the GREATEST first night in italy story EVER!

And in the "team adventure" category....

We were trying to find things to "buy" for our apartment......I put quotations around it because, at the present moment, we have nowhere to put said things.......so it was suggested that we go outside Salerno to the big "Wal-Mart" type place, called Carrefour......well, we get on a number 8, and get off when we see a Carrefour sign and think we know where it is......after an hour and 15 minutes of walking THROUGH the town of Pontecagnano at 3pm on a HOT Italy day.....we finally get there (of course, after seeing a number 8 pass us, thus frustrating us more)......and needless to say, I bought 3 drink-like substances to quench my hugemongous thirst after all that walking.......and now we know that we don't "Carrefour" for the Carrefour :)

And on a side note, we all went out for lunch on thursday and we got so confused when we paid.......which produced this quote....

"He stole our money!........wait....we didn't pay for lunch!"

now that's what I call an entertaining post....

:)

Back in Salerno....

So, I dunno what to do about this, but gotta inform the masses that I'm here in Salerno!

Oh, so we've been here since last thursday.......and on tuesday, we went to my favorite places in Italy, Amalfi.....and we hiked up the mountain to see my fav waterfall :)

and Nate gave me an awesome pic of us on the way back from Paolo's house.....so I must post it.....

ok! ciao tutti!
